The Story of
The Yellow Puppy
The Yellow Puppy had a best friend named Jared.
The two were inseparable. Jared always carried his little yellow puppy everywhere he went. His favorite color was yellow.
He was a ray of sunshine. His sudden passing, left a huge void in his parents and siblings hearts, as well as his extended family. This year, 2020, would have been Jared's 21st birthday. The entire extended family around the USA, toasted in his honor for his 21st, by dressing in yellow, and sending up yellow balloons to him, in heaven. We are also remembering Jared by creating a Puppy made from goats milk soap, honey, and bee pollen, sourced from our farm in Brentwood, California.
The Yellow Puppy handmade soap, has a wonderful fragrance of oatmeal and honey. It is made with care and love, and symbolizes the remembrance of Jared. When you hold your special puppy, and soap up, you can't help but think of a special little boy that had a smile that warned your heart.
We extend the opportunity for you to join us in celebrating his short life, by opening up orders to purchase this yellow puppy online. The cost is $7, and for every puppy sold, we give $4 to New John R. Oishei Children's Hospital of Buffalo, NY

Lavender & Amber rustic bar - handmade soap SOLD OUT
Another interesting artisan soap. This one is made with infused chamomile tea. Chamomile and honey are known to sooth irritated skin, calming down inflammation and sensitive areas, and helping speed up healing of minor injuries and sunburns. Its antibacterial properties help fight acne and breakouts. Chamomile also acts as a mild skin-bleach, lightening up your complexion and giving you a nice, healthy glow. This also contains French Green Clay. French green clay is beneficial in removing impurities and tightening the pores, toning the skin, exfoliating dead skin cells and reducing inflammation in acne. It can also be used as a full-body treatment to soften dry, rough. This bar has a nice lather, and will leave your skin feeling clean, ready for your toner and moisturizer. For use on face and body. Also contains Vitamin E, and Lavender essential oil. Fragrance is a mild scent of lavender and amber (vanilla undertones).
Beeswax is an ingredient used in my lip balms, soaps and some lotions. This picture shows the part of the hive - a frame of "drawn" wax that the honey bees made. This is where they will store honey. This is what is called honeycomb when it is filled with honey. (photo credit to Cindy Johnson)
Honey Harvest - typically is once a year, between July and August (Brentwood, CA)
This is a photo of a full frame of honey that is ready to harvest. The tool used is a scraper/fork that is used to "un-cap" the wax capped honey. In order to "spin" the honey from the frames each cell needs to be uncapped. The harvester has to be careful not to go too deep, but to only uncap the this layer. Scraping is not encouraged, because that would allow pieces of wax to go into the spinner and it would take longer to filter out.
It requires 556 worker bees to gather a pound of honey. Bees fly more than once around the world to gather a pound of honey. However bees usually pollinate and collect pollen and honey from up to 5 miles away. They will pollinate and bring nectar and pollen back to the hive from a variety of flowers, plants, vegetables, and fruit & nut trees. The average life of a honey bee during the working season is about six weeks.
